Re: What kinds of fic rub you the wrong way?

They're very common in my fandom, too ("Criminal Minds", for the curious). I don't like those fics, either. There's so many characters to play around with in the canon already.

And even setting that aside, why not just make a proper OC? I get those types of stories bring their own issues, and people can be wary of them, too (I personally don't have any issue with stories involving OCs interacting with the canon characters-I've read some that were quite good-but I know they have something of a stigma among some out there). But it's good practice to create one's own characters, instead of having the reader imagine themselves in the role for them instead or whatever.

To each their own, of course-write what you (general "you") want to write and all that good stuff. Just, yeah, I personally sympathize with your rant.
