Yeah. I had a cat who was 17 who got it in her shoulder, but she was able to live for months after. It still sucked, but my poor Eliot is only 11, and because it is fast-growing and in his jaw, the vet only gave me a week's worth of painkillers and seemed to think I might not even need that, which sucks even more. And he was just at the vet's three months ago, so it's not like I could really have done anything to catch it earlier. (Or that anything really could have been done even if it had been caught earlier, because of where it is.) At least the painkillers seem to be helping and he is in a better place than he was a few days ago.
