Yeah, I commented further down but my first thought was Wuthering Heights too. Although if Reylo shippers see Reylo as Cathy/Heathcliff, that may go some way torwards explaining why I hate Reylo. I never managed to get all the way through Wuthering Heights.

This is yet another case of “all I see is Hermione/Snape,” although even that’s not right in this case. This looks like Wuthering Heights or Jane Eyre or something. If you hadn’t said it was Reylo I wouldn’t have guessed. And I hate Reylo, but I’m not about to get angry that random artists draw fanart of them.

I have no opinion about Reylo personally. I don't care enough about new Star Wars.

As for ships in general, I've found that many of my least favorite ships over the years have gotten the most amazing artists. Art so good it was impossible for me to dislike the piece, despite the subject being ships that make my skin crawl. Artists like that deserve all the props.

...I don't get it? It's like the artist did her best to make it impossible to figure out what pairing it is supposed to be (the guy looks nothing like Adam Driver, the girl looks nothing like Daisy Ridley, even her bust size is wrong, ffs, and even the clothes can't help you, as it is some sort of historical!AU thing). It is incredibly easy to look at this and not see any Reylo. Can't you just do that? Save the pic to your harddrive, rename it and forget it was every supoosed to be anything more than pretty generic historical romance couple.

I looked through her gallery and most of her Reylo-art is more recogniseably Reylo-themed, but still, most of it isn't them kissing or being obviously romantic. I hate this pairing, but I have no trouble looking at this pic and appreciating the colours and such?:

Here's a perfect example of how something can be beautiful art and still be bad fanart. If fanart looks nothing like the characters from the fandom it's supposed to be representing, then it has failed at being fanart. This particular artist appears to be incredibly talented at everything except for drawing Kylo Ren and Rey. Even in their non-AU pics where Reylo are in their SW costumes, they look more like cosplayers or another fandom's Star Wars AU than they do the actual characters.
