I don't have insomnia but I do take a long time to get to sleep and always have, ever since I was a kid. And every few months I either get an episode of sleep paralysis or a horrific nightmare that fucks up my ability to sleep for the best part of a week which fucks up my pattern.

It could be much worse so I don't gripe much, but it's still not fun.

I can deal with nightmares, usually. Sleep paralysis is the worst, though. Absolutely terrifying.

I normally don't remember them, I just wake up fucking terrified and can't get back to sleep(this is fun when this happens at 4am because I am a zombie the whole of the next day and don't rest well despite being tired). Sometimes I do however, like I did 3 weeks ago and I didn't want to go to sleep the following night and I was jumpy and paranoid the whole day, it was not a good dream.

Sleep paralysis makes me too scared to sleep, so even though I am exhausted I can't shut off because I'm too anxious to and some episodes leave me so scared I spend a week not sleeping well.

Sleep paralysis sounds absolutely terrifying. I'm sorry. :( Hugs.

Ha, thank you. :)

I wish I could purge it from my brain but I really feel for anyone who gets it more frequently because even my every-few-months episodes are a whole bag of DNW.

(Though as it turns out I used to get it waaaaay more as a kid, I just thought the house was haunted, lmao).
