(Anonymous) 2018-03-26 12:28 am (UTC)(link)The same could be said of any dialect! Using any dialect or code or argot or jargon or whatever is going to lead to impaired communication with people who don't understand the dialect/code.
But people do actually end up using dialects and codes all the time for all kinds of purposes in real life, despite that fact. And the use of dialects *doesn't* impair communication between people who *do* mutually understand the dialect. It may, in fact, make it easier for those people to communicate with each other.
