I'm not the above poster but I can at least answer the question since. I've been watching Drag Race since season 1 and, for the most part, the contestant with the best performance in the show wins the crown at the end. So for 9 regular seasons and 2 All Stars it was the case.

With this season (AS3), the twist on the finale made it so that one of the ones that fans view as deserving (the pictured queen, Shangela) wasn't even allowed a chance to try and win the crown. She was knocked out at 3rd/4th place by no fault of her own. A lot of people view it was blatantly unfair rigging for the one who ultimately won because she has a popular web show that the company produces.

If you'd be interested in watching a semi-parody reality show that's made for LGBT people, I'd give it a watch. Aside from All Stars 3, the show is great and fun to watch. It's a great showcase of talent and style.

This. The sad part is, Trixie Mattel, who I will refer to here as Coattails Mattel, coasted by riding everyone's coattails. I mean, even Morgan McMichaels called that shit out.

The thing that bothered me most is the feeling that Shangela was punished for doing a good job in the competition. The whole finale was a mess and I don't think any of the queens deserved what happened there tbh.
