Yeah, it's fun to do the second thing you were talking about, but sometimes people just need light escapist fluffy bullshit. If everything were as SRS BSNS as the real world it'd suck pretty bad and totally not be fun at all, you know?
(Honestly, though, almost all my intense srs bsns discussions about fandom are conducted IRL and just never show up online, so.)
