I'm not saying Doctor/Rose fans can't be totally wanktacular, because they definitely can. But the idea that it's THEM and only them and they're the only ones acting that wanktacular is sort of out there. Even the OP acknowledged the hate from both sides. It's great that you haven't had anything directed at you- I imagine you haven't posted much that would irritate Martha fans, judging by your comments. I've never had unkind comments directed to me by a Martha fan either, or a Rose fan (even though I've disagreed with both at points). But that doesn't mean I haven't seen it happen to plenty of other people. I've just been lucky I guess.

That's not what you said.
and I don't see that much Rose hate going on, to be honest. I see legitimate criticisms of the character, which Rose fans tend to perceive as "hate".
When people spend more time "criticizing" Rose's character than talking about other subjects, it starts feeling hateful. When I'm reading a meta post on something almost completely unrelated and there are side-swipes and snarks at Rose and her fans all over it, it's obnoxious. You've got the same darn people repeating over and over the same regurgitated Rose hate statements. If you consider the criticism legitimate, fine. I generally don't. When it's done so excessively, especially. I consider it often hypocritical, because they'll praise the same thing in other characters or what have you. You might not consider it bashing (I do), but there is such overwhelming negativity towards her on that community that it's extremely difficult for a fan of hers to even have the thing friended.
I've never seen any "rabid" Martha fans post anything that's unfounded character bashing in [info]doctorwho, and I've been there for some time.
Unfounded character bashing? Well therein might be a problem. If you see the bashing as legit because you feel that way about the character, you're not going to see a problem with it. But it's still hate.
And the mods seem to be pretty on top of bashing there, but it does happen frequently enough before they get around to freezing or deleting the threads. I've seen them freezing more Rose threads than Martha ones recently.
"They're just as bad," is not a viable arguement. When David Berkowitz presented his defense to the court, he didn't say, "Yeah?! Well! Manson is just as bad as me and I don't see you picking on him!".
What. o.o I'm really uncomfortable with comparisons like this, but last time I checked it's not like people ignored Manson's crimes or something. Pointedly, they did "pick on him" and imprison him, justice being served. I don't think your comparison makes sense. Yes, when two people are doing the same thing and you penalize only one of them, that is unfair. Nothing more. Nothing less.
Also, by the way, no, you didn't say you're a Rose fan, but then you've got a lump of Rose icons...
Er, not quite what I was saying. Not saying it wouldn't be easy to find out I was a Rose fan. Obviously yes, one look at my userinfo will tell you I enjoy her character. I was saying my comment itself made no implication of having a persecution complex or what have you and could have just as easily been made by a non-fan.
