As far as their use in fandom? I'd say there are reasonable partial parallels, though not exact ones, between Darcy and the following: Tony Stark, Sam Wilson, Bucky Barnes, Doctor Strange, Bruce Banner, Clint Barton, Phil Coulson, Jeff Goldblum, and Loki. Not all in the same way.

Nope, doesn't compute. You should have tried to argue that Harley or the Warriors Three or something fell into that category. Love 'em or hate 'em, all of the characters you listed are actual main characters, not minor side characters who are elevated to main character status by their fangirls. Well, minus Jeff Goldblum, but he's a law unto himself.

But now I have a hankering for fic where it turns out that Bucky Barnes is the secret love child of Tony Stark and Doctor Strange, and who is in a polyamorous relationship with Clint Barton, Sam Wilson and Jeff Goldblum. So props to you.
