If you haven't read the book, do. Javert somehow manages to come off as even more of an adorable badass. And his dynamic with M. Madeleine is one of the most hilarious things I have ever read.

Javert trying to get M. Madeleine to dismiss him has to be one of my favorite bits. When I've first read the book, when I was like 12 or something, I thought you were supposed to hate Javert, so I've tried, but that did not work out at all.
