I'm a Darcy fan and writer (I've always loved trying to flesh out underdeveloped characters. That's the fun of fanfic for me) and I shake my head at some of the output right now. I miss plot.

For those wondering: Darcy fic has gone through at least three waves. Thor 1 fic was mostly Darcy/Clint or Darcy/Loki, and while she was a breakout fic character, it was pretty standard, and started on LJ.

Avengers wave writers are on tumblr, and alongside standard plot/pwp fic, developed a strong community ethos of prompt fic. The emphasis is on Darcy, tho, not any particular ship. So Darcy became a (multi)fandom bicycle, the community is almost devoid of shipwars, and really rather pleasant.

Wave Three is what happens when the character is discarded by the creators. This wave is also happening mostly on discord. But, as a result, the prompt fic and the ficlets are predominant now, which really brings out the crossover pairings to the forefront.

but still love my corner of the fandom. I just miss longer, plotty fics.
