I actually don't like Aliens. I thought Alien was a perfect horror movie that did not need any sequels (and really, I don't think I've liked a single Cameron movie, his style and storytelling just doesn't work for me).

Alien was perfect, absolutely. I like Aliens as a pure fun action movie, but it never scared me like the original did, and even the inclusion of the whole queen/hive thing ruined a lot of the mystery for me. :( I did a whole university project based around the Xenomorph and seeing its mystery/creepiness ruined with every new movie (Alien : Covenant, jesus) makes me cry. I do agree with you on Cameron's filmmaking in general. Don't get me started on Avatar. Egh.
