Pretty sure it's not on Netflix US though, which is where I am.

That's weird, usually it's the other way around, isn't it? Things often take ages to be released or licensed here. On the other hand, it's marketed as a Netflix Original, so who knows which rules apply.

Netflix wanted to put into theaters in the US first. I think it was part of the deal they made with the creators.

It was all Paramount's decision.

The studio bailed on the film, refusing to do theatrical distribution outside of the U.S. and dumped it on Netflix.

Honestly, probably the best decision. Much cheaper for them and I doubt that movie would have done much in theaters.
