I HATE the fact that in fandom spaces when I hear someone screaming that so-and-so is a pedophile, I just assume it's a harmless person who wrote or drew the wrong fictional teenagers kissing, since that's all it means in online fandom 90% of the time now.

Alarm fatigue is real. This kind of bullshit means that a REAL pedophile (that is, someone likely to really harm a real child in real life) has an easier time of getting by in fandom now than they would have before this anti fad popped up. Because people are jaded to that word now. Its meaning and impact have been watered down to nothing.
