You went to an awful school if none of those things were covered. There are a lot of them, especially in red states because the GOP wants to dismantle the public school system, so it's in their best interest to hobble it financially and intellectually. In my US school, most of those issues were covered.

Yes, yes I did. An awful, conservative, fundamentalist, backwards religious school. I was a missionary kid, and it was the only English speaking school we could afford (there was one other school that was better but out of our price range, though my parents have expressed regret that they didn't find a way to send me there).
