not op, but....

When you read the backs of published books, do you see warnings like, "NON-CON! INCEST!"? No, they tell you what will happen in the story, not which potential squick buttons they might hit. 'Magic's Price' does not warn for slash and 'Deerskin' doesn't warn for incest or rape. So people actually read these things despite that, GASP.

Why should fanfiction be different?

I can't speak for everyone, but I find depictions of domestic violence or non-con incredibly triggery, and can spend days twitching if I happen across one. Blurbs and reviews play the same role in RL that warnings do in fandom.

Actually, yes. In the summary, even if only hinted, so people know what to expect, and so they'll buy it, because it's what they were looking for.

Fanficiton is something much more... personal in my eyes. People can instantly and directly tell you what they think about it, and the communication with your readers is on a completely different level.

No, but you wouldn't find a horror story in the romance section. It'd tell you that it's dark, or whatever as well, and the cover is usually relevant, the blurb usually will say 'falling in love with her brother' or something if it has strong incest themes (rather than say, secondary characters in a fantasy novel)...

Oh and TV shows come up with 'this programme contains violence, sexual themes and nudity' or whatever too. Sure they do'nt say 'this programme contains a mention of rape' or 'this programme has The Gay in it' but...you can usually find out those things via reviews. Fanfiction does not have those reviews for people to use.

people don't use the warnings properly anyway. Like fanfic has conditioned people to think NC-17 is fucking, but in ranking systems it can also warn for dark themes whatever.

I'm with the OP, man up nancy. I am sick of having to spoon feed things to people. i don't exist to create your own personal happy place.

'Deerskin' doesn't warn for incest or rape

No, it doesn't, which is why I read it in middle school. I found it pretty upsetting, and it doesn't even describe the incestuous rape in loving detail the way fanfic tends to do. But then, according to the OP this makes me a complete wuss, so I don't know, I guess it's my own problem.

If it bothers you, you can always. You know. Put the book down.
