Or, you know, they're straight women who are interested in reading about hot guys.

They're not mutually exclusive.

And het has hot guys.

DA

Ah yes, het fans, well known for never displaying any questionable views towards women.

do what now

This statement feels like something of a non sequitur to me.

OP seems to be revelling in their judgy judginess, so whatever. And this statement seems to be some sort of offshoot of "I don't like het fans" or something.

But since you brought it up, I'd be curious as to precisely what group of fans never display any questionable views towards [women or other important issue can be inserted here].

OP says that they judge people who only like male characters/read male authors/ship M/M. This indicates they think there is a reason to judge. An anon replies saying that it's because some women have a hard time identifying with female characters. Another anon argues that there is no deeper meaning, it's just straight women who want to see hot men. Someone points out that there are also hot men in het, meaning that straight women who just want to see hot men must have some other motive for not liking het when it has just as much to offer in the hot man department.

Listen, the OP was clearly trying to start "slashers are sexist" wank. One of us had to say something.

+1

Some of the ugliest misogyny I've ever seen has been het shippers trashing female characters who are part of a competing ship.
