Huh.

Well, they do have chemistry. But I will also read Ronon/Sheppard (what little there is of it), so I can't quite commiserate with you.

I find that attitude bizarre but not uncommon at all in the fandom. And I have written tons of McShep in the fandom...but I've also paired Sheppard with Ronon a lot (and Ronon/Keller, and Sheppard/Vala, and even Sheppard/Zelenka).

Thing is, compared to a lot of pairings, the show really isn't that McShep slashy! They barely touch each other, Rodney hardly ever addresses John by his first name, John is a lot more affectionate toward Ronon and Teyla and treats Rodney like his annoying younger brother--he very obviously cares about him, but not like *that*.

But I ship them because the fanon literature is very rich and deep, and the characters are so very interesting that you can *imagine* them fitting together so easily. They are almost archetypes, but with a twist. If only they did look at each other that way! Instead of John looking at Rodney and rolling his eyes every five minutes, demanding that he hurry up and get the job done, and Rodney snapping his fingers and insulting John and hardly ever looking his way. So that's the challenge that appeals to me time and again, and I go after it like a dog after a juicy bone. No pun.
