(Anonymous) 2018-04-14 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)-- it being NO BIG DEAL that Illya was from the USSR while Napoleon was from the USA. Seriously, we DID NOT need a "enemies to partners" origin story - the whole point of UNCLE is that it is UNITED.
-- characters who were unabashedly good guys. Making Napoleon a thief - and thus a war profiteer - was just godawful. If you want to give the hero a flaw, stick with "a bit vain and oversexed". Bah.
-- Illya's character - in the series, we have this reserved, seriously overqualified and over-educated man, who is all of a sudden BOOM! badass despite it all. In the movie? Yeah, a muscle-mountain of angst with a hair-trigger temper and ISSUES. Pfft.
(... I may be overinvested in this)
