If you think about it, after breaking it all down, what you are really feeling a connection to is nothing more than an idea and a couple of pen strokes.
I am sorry if that seems kinda harsh but that's the way I see it, and I would rather be scared of what my parents would do to me, if i failed all my classes, rather than who ends up with who in a series.
Because fandom goes away after a while, but the physical punishment from real life doesn't. If my rents found out i failed my classes, i would be freaking out because they would take away my car, and/or not continue to pay for my tuition and make me pay for it. College is expensive btw.
Don't get me wrong I have my own fandoms but i try to not turn them into much of an obsession.
