Awww, I honestly find these mistakes amusing and kind of cute tbh. Certainly not anything that makes me annoyed or angry.

And I can't make fun because I know if I was dealing with fic that had travel-time in the US in it I'd probably fuck that up because I don't always quite comprehend just how large the US is.

Honestly, yeah! I'm actually quite fond of seeing the occasional small cultural goof here and there. It's quite charming.

It's like seeing American characters complain to themselves during a particularly bad day that they "hope that there'll still be biscuits and tea to enjoy when they get home". I mean, it's not accurate to what comfort foods an American would look forward to, but it doesn't stop it from still sounding comfortable.

It kinda gives me an insight into the author's heart, ya know?

Yup, this is exactly why it doesn't but me. It's coming from a good place and ultimately is just a little harmlessly ignorant of some cultural details.

And to be completely honest it's fanfic, I'm far more critical of published works that think we have gun-shops over here. :P

Or movies/TV shows that think our police-officers carry guns as standard.

Haha, yes. I once read a fic set in the U.S. but written by a Brit where the (American) characters were stressing out at work so they put the kettle on. I love that phrase even if it doesn't really fit.

I actually find it weirdly cute when British authors have American characters doing stuff that's super classically British like that
