why do you want to get into it? why can't you?

Westworld. Everyone seems to be into it and I'd like to discuss something that other people are actually into. I just can't bring myself to sit through one episode.

Cool Story Bro -- "Westworld" is the first HBO show I've gotten into, and I'm still not used to not having commercial breaks. I don't have a DVR to pause it, so I'm like, "Okay, after this scene's done, I'll get up to use the bathr... oh, okay, next scene. But after that I'll... nope, next scene." Great show, I'm just not used watching TV for an uninterrupted hour, lol.

Any CW superhero shows. They have pretty big fanbases and I am always on the hunt for more fic. I just really cannot get into the CW style though. :(

I gave One Day at a Time a go because I've heard a lot of lovely things about it, but it just did not click with me at all.

Same. For me, I liked the characters, but the laugh track was just too much.

I'm not even bothered by laugh tracks but something just didn't work for me. Which is a shame because it does seem like a really cute show, but it was not meant to be.

Nowadays I don't care quite as much because I'm getting exhausted with the whole MCU, but I tried to watch Agents of Shield multiple times and I always gave up a few episodes in.

People say that it gets better, but I'm a completionist and I can't get into a show if I don't watch all of it, and I found those first episodes so meh that I just had to drop it.

Co-op gaming. Feeling in a bit of a rut on my gaming experience right now (what NWN and NWN2 AGAIN?) and can't get over the "other people" issue.

Years ago I tried to get into contemporary romance novels because some fans online seemed to be having a hell of a lot of fun with them but I just... did not have fun with them at all. A lot of people criticize them heavily so I won't bother listing all the reasons not to like them here, but a big part of it was that I could not bring myself to care about the characters and the sex scenes were just annoying. (I did and do like some Regencies, and I figured if I got into contemporary romance I'd have stuff to read all over the place, but I just couldn't.)

I love pirates, and while I actually hate Treasure Island there's been enough fandom chatter to convince me that a story involving the characters in name only as a prequel could be good.

I lasted less than ten minutes into the first episode. How can pirates be so boring?

I think I made it through an episode and a half and it's like you said... dammit, how did they make pirates so boring? Where's the pirate ship? Why are we stuck in this brothel?

I think I started it because yay, pirates, suffered through the first season with lots of skipping, skipped a season entirely and got back to it in the last season, which was ok. I didnt feel like I missed a whole lot in all the episodes I skipped though.
I also really hated a few characters a wanted them to die already. Especially the blonde chick because I thought her actress was immensely untalented.
