Let's say you received enough money to cover your basic needs but not a whole lot else. Would you still work? If not, what would you do with your time?

Yes because I would like to go on vacations and have stuff I don't need but want.

Yes, because 'basic' doesn't mean movie tickets, or a car bc I live in America, and the last thing America cares about is its citizens. We have shit transportation options.

For sake of this discussion, let's assume that either there is a reliable, effective mode of public transport and/or that UBI would include enough to pay for an economy car.

I'd still work, but I think I'd feel less pressure to pursue a high paying career vs. just a basic job. I like having extra money for small luxuries and travel.

I'd probably work at least some kind of part-time job to fund my hobbies and such.

Also, is healthcare included in those basic needs?

Yes. Assume Universal Healthcare as well.

Then yeah, some low-effort job that gives me enough "pocket money" for my leisure.

I'd still work because of social interaction.

I'd be better off than I am. I'm on disability.

Yeah, because I’d like to be able to afford vacations abroad, and to see live theatre, and go to grad school, and make cool costumes, and put in a bigger garden, and fix up my house beyond just making sure it doesn’t collapse.

I'd still work. I have expensive hobbies. What I might do is work less.

Yes. I want to make a difference in the world. I'd probably volunteer more than work, though. But I do like to have some money for fun things.

I would. So I could get luxuries like art supplies to fuel my hobby to make a second source of "luxury" income.

I would, but I'd be able to go back to school to get a job I really want instead of dealing with the job I have. Which would be nice.

Partly because I didn't become a scientist for the money in the first place, so I'd want to keep doing what I enjoy.

Partly because I'm terrible at making friends and wouldn't have much of a social life if not for work.

Partly because I have an easier time structuring my free time and finding motivation when I know not all of my time is my own and I have to work around the fact that I have to be at work sometimes.

Yes, I love my job as a legal assistant. But I'd probably cut down my hours so I could focus a little more on study.

I would under normal circumstances. I would have increased my volunteer hours and decreased my work hours though.

I'm a disability pensioner and can't work anymore though. The way I have heard it explained is that the UBI will replace all social support money if implemented. That's kind of worrying as I don't know if I would be worse off financially or still able to seek funding for medical stuff.

Not if I could avoid it. I'd draw a lot and make less than good posts on the internet.

Yes, I'd still work, but I definitely wouldn't work full time.
