If you could ride any animal into battle, what would you pick. Has to be a real animal, and if aquatic, will need to be an aquatic battle.

A heavy draft horse.

If I can pick an extinct animal, I'd choose a Triceratops or one of the closely related species.

Any dinosaur would be awesome. For something living today, a big cat of some kind, if it could be done safely. How awesome would riding a panther be?

Horse. I actually already know how to ride and use a sword or spear, and how to hit target at a gallop. I can vault on a moving horse and pull other people up behind me or lead another horse along. It's fun stuff.

Someone above said they wanted a draught horse, but I'd take a pony before a big clunker. Manoeuvrability is important.
