I saw EVE as having kind of the gruff-hero-with-secretly-soft-heart to WALL-E's spunky but underpowered princess with magical artifact she must protect. The Link to his Zelda. How is she not a strong character?

(I have a friend who hated Ratatouille because the female chef 'didn't advance the plot,' and conveniently ignored that she was the only one with the balls to work with Remy in the kitchen as well as the chops to help him run a restaurant-- unlike male lead, who settled semi-gracefully into his given roll as roller-waiter.)

IAWTC about Eve completely. She was clearly the leader in the relationship.

Oh, god. Ratatouille is probably my least favorite Pixar movie, but I liked it for just that. The male lead was a bit of a settler and every one else worked their asses off. Those are interesting dynamics in a story, dammit!

Funny thing is, if the gender roles had been reversed, and WALL-E had been a TEEN-A to someone's STEVE, people would still be saying it was sexist because 'all the girl can think of is being lovey-dovey while the guy is strong and career oriented.'

I think everbody just wants a crusade.

Yeah, okay, raise your blood pressure. We don't need that attitude here.
