Usually the case with live movie adaptations, tbh. It's hard to cram all the details into a movie so they're gonna have to cut corners. I usually consider them two different things. (Not to mention Japan's tendency to change the story when adapting manga to anime to live action. I thought the FMA movie was pretty solid, but the manga and the anime are definitely better.
