(Anonymous) 2018-04-26 03:55 am (UTC)(link)This is just a matter of Japanophile fans thinking they are being cute and "more accurate" by writing his name "Yuuri". It's not more accurate. It's stupid and wrong to suggest his name isn't or should not be romanized as "Yuri". And I'm in the fandom, I don't see this more often than I see people spell his name correctly.
I'm not even sure what your last point is, or what you're suggesting in regards to people doing the same in English. Most of the series takes place internationally where they are, in canon, speaking English and Yuri would be going by the English spelling.

People just chose something else in the fandom for the sake of clarity. Why the hell does that bother you so much?
