139. ooh now that I think about it, you're right :x As sweet as they would be together, Takemoto totally deserves someone who would be more faithful to him. Hagu seems rather fickle from how the manga ended, anyway xD;

140. ... I read the book and I don't remember that part at all :x I think that makes me a bad fan ahaha!

...fickle? How? For deciding to stay with the person who is able to support her when she clearly needs support and the person she has feelings for (btw, never said she loved him) can't support her? Not to mention that IMO she made it pretty clear that she knew about Hanamoto's feelings but she didn't feel the same way about him.

Okay, so maybe fickle was the wrong word :') More like... fragile and unstable? She did need support, yeah, and she was looking for a father figure more than anything which is why she went to Shuuji. I assume you mean Takemoto in your last sentence, in which case throughout the whole series, it seemed to me more like she was leading both him and Morita on by not saying whether she had feelings for either of them. It would've been faster if she had just turned them down straight out, but then it wouldn't a story and Hagu wouldn't be Hagu, haha 8D;; As it was, she only said "thank you" when Takemoto finally confessed (and didn't commit to anything by doing so), and went to Morita for consolation overnight near the end of the series before finally settling on Shuuji. Anyway, tl;dr, the point is that imho, Takemoto needs someone that he can love and take care of unconditionally, and who is mentally capable of loving him just as much in return. :]

Ah, no, I meant Hanamoto. :D And while I agree that Hagu is fragile and needs support, I don't agree that she was leading Takemoto and Morita on. She simply really didn't have romantic feelings for Takemoto (and she never ever implied that she had any), and while she did have feelings for Morita, it was so new and so confusing for her that she didn't even realize what the feeling was, let alone knowing how to deal with it. And as for the ending, as much as I don't like how Hagu's story ended (I mean, sheesh, what a fine way to keep Hagu from ever changing or growing), I think she was, in her way, very honest with everyone. She let Takemoto know she wasn't in love with him; she let Morita know that she had feelings for him but her art was more important to her (at least for the time being); and she let Hanamoto know that she knew he was in love with her but she didn't feel the same way.

I think the key to Hagu is to understand that she's not a normal human being with a normal way of thinking. It's often emphasized how differently she views and experiences things, and how overly sensitive and socially inexperienced she is. (Strangely nobody has problems accepting that Morita is different, but when it comes to Hagu everyone's "why can't she just behave normally?!")

Oh okay, fair enough~ I think I need to reread/rewatch the end of this series; it's been a couple years already! So no more huge judgement calls from me |D;;

(And maybe it's because Morita is that kind of obnoxious but endearing character type? He offends everyone with his craziness but then pulls back so you see enough of his heart to forgive him. And somehow the general consensus is that people don't like Hagu's character, idk ?__?)

Re: 139

Yeah, Morita is more endearing, I suppose, though he's typically the kind of person who is very funny to watch like this but who would be hated by everyone IRL :D (and he does annoy the hell out of pretty much everyone, only his friends are more accepting). I think the problem with Hagu is that she's just so very different that most people who can't relate to her both in the show and in the audience. Which is, I suppose, the point - that since she experiences everything in a different way, she's painfully introverted and art is pretty much her way to commuinicate with the "outside world" and she has problems with expressing herself otherwise, etc., she can't react in a usual way in even everyday situations.

I've seen people calling Hagu a canon Sue, but IMO it's made obvious in the show that she may be "special" but she has to deal with enormous problems due to this, including not being able to communicate and make herself be understood other than though art. (Morita is in a similar situation but he fares better, due to his much more extroverted personality.)

...right, sorry. No more tl;dr for tonight. ._.) (Hagu has this Pavlovian effect on me - I've had to tell the above to so many people who didn't know how to approach/play the character that when I see her name this rant automatically kicks in.)

By the way, she didn't "go" to Morita for consolation, Morita pretty much kidnapped her for his own consolation. She stayed because she understood what he felt and wanted to help him.

(Sorry, normally I wouldn't be so tl;dr about this, but I just finished working on the show so everything is still fresh in my memory, along with my emotional investment. :D)

Me either! I blocked it out, maybe? There were so many weird effed up things that I don't remember them individually at all.
