Like, they were cheating people? I don't get it.

I'll let you decide whether it's cheating or not, but here's the longer version of the events:

- person orders many copies of a doujin from an artist
- she resells them at 3-4 times the price the artist sells them before getting her hands on the doujin themselves
- people are alerted about the difference in price
- artist cancels reseller's orders
- reseller apologizes that she misread the price because she isn't good at the language used on the artist's site
- some forgave the reseller while others question how she managed to go through the site in the first place if she weren't extremely fluent in the language
- upon the request of a community mod, the artist makes a notice stating that the reseller claimed that she was buying all those copies for a friend in university
- notice gets translated into english and is published by the community mod. reseller is temporarily banned from selling in that community.

It looks like people are more mad at her for lying than for doing business.

Ah, okay. Clearly my reading comprehension had failed me. Given most countries in the world use arabic numerals for money I didn't realize that she thought no one would catch on to her devious scheme.

Seriously, though, why lie about it? If she was the one doing all the work ordering and shipping and whatnot, why not honestly tell people she was marking the books up for her time and effort?

I think she claimed that she was selling them for the same price the artist was.

Ironically, shortly before this, she was bragging about her language skills (being on the level of a native speaker for like 5 languages) on another site.

Ah, I see. That makes sense - from the comment it sounded like people were pissed off at her for the markup, which is a little o_O for me because I know sellers who would consider 3-4x the price giving the book away. (Incluing one who successfully sells free copy-bon given as gifts at events for $15-20.)

Lying, though, yeah that sucks.
