To discuss. Isn't this the whole point of fandom anyway?

Maybe that's what most people think, but it's not what everyone wants. I write for what is now a smaller fandom, and still very much enjoy writing fic for it, and talking to the people kind enough to leave comments... but I get extremely anxious about new canon coming down the pike that I want nothing to do with. People say I don't have to stop writing then, but I feel like I can't NOT... because even if I choose to ignore it, the people reading my work aren't all going to be ignoring it, and certainly the people writing fic won't be, so I'll have to just write for myself offline if I truly want to stay in my little bubble.
