I am stunned so many people posted to say they AGREED with this secret. Even if they agreed that they don't like politics in fandom the fact that they didn't protest the OP's choice of words and deliberately bigoted flamebait phrasing speaks volumes. However much they protest that they are not BIGOTS themselves they agreed with a bigot and kept silent about the bigotry.

I am ashamed of so many people today and specially sad that someone on my friends list agreed with this. Disgusting.

A lot of people have already said that they didn't see that bit (and when alerted to that bit, said they didn't agree with it) -- I didn't at first because that secret is really hard on my eyes, so I couldn't focus on it very well. Calm down. Please.

Probably due to seeing so many similar tl;dr secrets. They figured it said the same thing as all the rest. Not that I'm defending it, but I've done the same -- missed some tiny!text, missed text that was written differently than the rest of the secret, skimmed technicolor text. Since getting called out on it before, I've tried to make sure to catch everything, but sometimes, as human beings, we miss things. We're not perfect robots.

I find it seriously strange that so many people "didn't see that bit" until they were called out on supporting blatant prejudice.

Although, I guess it shouldn't surprise me that so many of the people who don't like serious discussions in their fandom also don't pay much attention to what they read before they reply to it.

The fact is that the text was brought to their attention. I'm not going to judge their motives because that'd be weird -- I can't read their minds -- but a lot of them probably didn't see it. I'm sure some saw and ignored it, which is kind of shitty of them, but others probably skimmed or something.

Pretty much, yeah.

I've done that for LAYOUTS before (you know, fixing something about an image and not wanting to have to change the name of it, so just replacing it) but I never thought about anyone doing it on F!S.
