Expect spoilers outside of the spoiler free thread.

Bc not everyone's seen it yet.

As I understand it, there's a spoiler-free thread above this, and then spoiler-filled threads lower down.

For me this was definitely a movie where the parts were greater than the sum. Because there were a lot of moments that I liked and I'm always happy to see these characters. And yet I left underwhelmed and I don't feel like Thanos was this great villain that people are calling him. But I also recognize that maybe I need to see it again, because there was a lot going on.

I've got a big spoiler-filled review post here.

I haven't learned to disguise spoiler text on DW, and colors only work depending on your settings, so...

LAST WARNING

***********************

Everyone I like is dead, so... pretty much what I expected, actually.¹

I do wish they'd done a bit more with Star-Lord and Gamora even though their relationship was pretty much headed that way.

I laugh a bit now about the baby talk between Tony and Pepper. I'd joked about Tony being a total dad to Peter Parker... but it really feels like Peter is his kid, even if they're not related. I'd braced myself for every death but Peter Parker's managed to punch me right in the chest. Hurts to watch kids die, and all his pleading and apologizing didn't help.

Drax/Thor - now there's an unexpected ship.

Surprising feels from Wanda/Vision. I'm... not exactly sure how that works, structurally speaking. But good for them. Pretty damn cruel of Thanos to bring back Vision after Wanda killed him, just so that he could kill him again for the stone. But obvious spoiler for Avengers 4, I guess.

I loved everyone meeting and everyone clashing. Tony and Peter Quill meeting. Honestly, I would love to see a scene where Peter Quill gets to go back to Earth and finds out all the stuff he missed. I would love to see his reaction to, say, Michael Jackson and any other 80s icons who ran into trouble in later years. Twisted as that sounds.

Must be some mighty Wakandan tech if they managed to attach a vibranium arm to Bucky and have him master it in a matter of...what, days? lol. I freaked out when he collapsed and dissolved, and then a bunch of people followed.

Kid Groot being a sass mouth but then completing the axe.

Nebula, Drax, and Mantis literally being broken apart... that was crazy.

Doctor Strange's vision worries me.

Bruce Banner calling Hulk a big green asshole... lol. I guess if the Hulk is traumatized, then it's serious. Thank goodness they kept the reunion scene with Natasha brief.

It kind of sucks that the moment they opened up Wakanda to the rest of the world... Thanos came.

I'm hoping Steve and Tony can reconcile before the end. And not just two seconds before the end.

¹Kidding. I also like the folks who are still alive. This wait is going to suck; I only have so many nails to nibble down.

Yeah the Peter Parker and Tony stuff was the best but also the saddest.

My trash boy is gone and I'll still sad about it. I just can't get over how they did right by Loki AND did him so dirty at the same time.

I hope Thor gets to be the one to end Thanos in A4, but it'll probably be Tony in a big sacrificial move.

I'm actually expecting it to be Cap in a big sacrificial move, mostly because I think Chris Evans is grateful but just over it all. Whereas I think RDJ doesn't want to headline any more Marvel movies, but he'd totally be down for popping from time to time.

I think they'll both probably die in A4, but something about Dr. Strange giving up the Time Stone for Tony's life just feels like it's setting Tony up for THE Big Damn Hero moment over Steve.

Probably because of the whole conversation before that where Dr. Strange was all IF IT COMES DOWN TO YOU OR THE STONE I WILL NOT SAVE YOU.

And then he goes and looks into the future and comes back and says only one future had them winning.

And then he gives up the stone and Tony's like WTF MAN? And he's like, "trust me I had to" or whatever he said.

And it's like. Ah, so that's what he saw in the future.

Yeah, I'm definitely concerned about this single future, though I was under the impression "I will not save you" applied to everyone else too. I probably need to watch again.

Oh, no, he did say it to Tony about both Tony and Peter (and anybody, I guess). But then he explicitly saved Tony later on when he gave up the stone.
