Then it shouldn't have whitewashed ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(Anonymous) 2018-05-04 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
My point precisely.

If you want your movie with your shitty choice to not be judged by your shitty choice...choose differently. It's very easy.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-04 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
Ikr? Why is that such a difficult thing for some people to understand?

(Anonymous) 2018-05-03 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Regardless of how good the movie is, it would still deserve criticism for whitewashing, because whitewashing isn't good. Not the end of the world, to be sure, but still not good.

Also, I watched the movie and thought it was extremely bad, even setting aside the whitewashing.

I don't know if this is one of those secrets made from peoples comments, so I might be agreeing with myself here, but I SO agree.

I remember seeing this and thought it was fun- dumb, but self-aware. Didn't take itself too seriously. I had a great time watching it, but can't really remember it in retrospect.

The whitewashing critique is legitimate, though. But I doubt that's what killed its sales.

No, it was super dumb.

Only thing I liked about this movie was Chadwick Boseman being ~fabulous~

(Anonymous) 2018-05-04 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
that's the only reason i watched this terrible movie

He was excellent.

But the only thing? Gerard Butler going the full ham did nothing for you? I mean, as a mythological geek I found it... unsetteling, but as a cinema fan, it was a treat.

Don't care about "whitewashing"

Shitty writing was a much bigger problem for the movie than who performed the shitty writing...

It was an awesome movie, and one I looked forward to for a long time only to have it cancelled from cinemas a week before it started showing. No reason why either, other than they thought it would be unpopular. Had to wait for it to come out on DVD in my country, but I really liked it when I did get to see it.
