I agree that this book is unfilmable. It's just... too much. It can never work.

I guess that depends on how you define "unfilmable". You can try to make a movie out of anything you want. But I think there are probably some books for which there is no possible film adaptation which is both good and reasonably faithful.

I enjoyed the movie, but I do agree. I think the second and third books are more filmable, though, and I wish the movie had made enough to do those two.
