i used to follow someone who would legit reblog all these 'toxic masculinity is bad' posts and go on about how guys hugging/being physically affectionate with each other was normal and to be encouraged.

... yet every time a pair of male celebs from her fandoms so much as touched each other she'd be screaming about 'how gay' they were in the tags.

it was... it was something else tbh.

I eventually unfollowed because they devolved into a level of tinhattery that was truly delusional and i couldn't be assed with seeing it anymore.

I'd say there's a line somewhere between "oh, hey, are they dating?" and "OMG they are in TRUE LOVE, and are so OPPRESSED because their HANDLERS in the INDUSTRY just won't let them REVEAL HOW IN LOVE THEY ARE."

ayrt

oh for sure, i don't think minor speculation is particularly egregious, unless they're married because they're clearly not dating in that case, and rambling speculation on some random-ass blog isn't the end of the world.

but the latter does make me uncomfortable and i get especially irritated towards those types when they act like they're doing lgbt men a favor by totally insisting that random white-male celeb1 and white-male celeb2 are a legit thing because they hug sometimes.

^^^^THIS You'd think that line would be BOLD AND THICK like a Nicki Minaj's behind, but apparently not.
