101. Dunno the comm you're talking about, but isn't the point of having moderated submissions to weed out badfic, or do you guys moderate your submissions for another reason?

108. Guy on right = Billie Piper.

110. Pokémon has the power.

115. If you're still bothered by it, read the short story. And not all slashers need to have seen the movie--it's not a rite of passage.

117. About the main pairing thing: but it's just so canon, with just enough not-canon space to write fic about.

And as for smaller: I've always thought it was a small fandom, however active it may be. Also, way to shaft us under-twenties, some who have fond memories of the show from childhood. I thought most people were against the whole "age-in-fandom" business. :-(

126. Rachel McAdams! HI RACHEL

130. I do the same thing. Or I used to. I'm trying not to anymore. I find humorfic pointing out everyone's flaws is much more bearable than a scathing review.

134. If you're going to make a secret about obscure fic, your chances of getting a comment decrease. But why are you so bothered by it? Shouldn't you use F!S to get the pressure of a secret off your chest and not to see what others thought?

136. You and #123 need to have a nice, long talk.

146. :-D Depeche Mode. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.

149. You and everyone else.

152. The support group's down the hall, on your left.

154. ... Google them?

156. What if they don't ship it, but ship several other slash pairings?

161. Media fandom is, yeah. It's called fandom, though--as in people who are fans of something, or enjoy something to a high degree. Furries are fans of all things furry-related, so they get their own fandom.

180. I don't think Two Face actually died. I dunno; check a forum or a comm for that.

115. so the short story has a happier ending?

asked rhetorically. if the movie was an angstfest, how would the short story be any better?

[identity profile] pavonine.livejournal.com 2008-07-25 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Ignoring the rhetorical aspect of a rhetorical question: it's a little less... sappy? Something about the way it's written is really not something I'd tell anyone to miss.

(Anonymous) 2008-07-25 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
but the op isn't really objecting to the sap but to the relentless angstfest of the two lovers who neither one end up having what would pass for a remotely happy ending.

saying that the written story is less sappy isn't a really good selling point for people who object to the crushing emoangst of it.

Point taken.

101 OP

We moderate submissions for spoilers/non f-locked material that needs to be f-locked and other things I won't mention so I won't be so obvious.

I'd get backlash for rejecting on those grounds since that isn't one of the things we mod for. (God I wish it was. The maintainer's commented on my journal agreeing with a fanfic rant I'd made, so who knows, maybe I'll try to coerce her.)

117 OP

Oh, don't get me wrong. I LOVE Ryan/Colin. I mean...how can you not?

The age thing: I hate to be like that, and though I agree most people under twenty aren't obnoxious, ever since the new members entered it, there's a lot more mindless squeeage, tons and tons of posts about the same things, and the quality of the fic has also dropped.

On that I see your point and agree--I've been tempted on numerous occasions to go anonymous and leave a comment of (constructive) criticism, but I've always stopped myself. Being criticized, however nicely it may be, can still feel like failing and I don't want to be THAT person, however anonymous I would be. Maybe certain comms can hold a fic workshop where the finer points of writing are discussed and practiced.

Actually, I'd love that for any community. The writer geek within would die in joy, revive, and then pay very close attention.

I think I read the BBM short story back then, and I mostly remember thinking '...this is what all the fuss is about?' *shrugs*

But at least the story has the advantage of not having the fugly moustache ;)
