115) Yeah, it's such a downer to have to think about closeting, anti-gay violence, and the other effects of societal homophobia instead of just looking at pretty boys kissing. Jeez, don't people know that the only point of putting Teh Gay in a movie is to amuse the straight girls?

181) Be bold, dude. Have you looked at how bad most of the existing Sapphire and Steel fanfic is? Yours is unlikely to be worse.

Omg THANK YOU.

Seriously, thank you.

I guess the person who wrote this secret is better off watching happy gay pr0n than watching a deep meaningful story about love. Let it stay that way.

Dude... just wondering, but when did the OP ever say they didn't want to go see the movie because it looked like an angstfest about gay people? She just said she didn't want to see it because it looked like an angstfest. If I said I didn't want to see a movie with a heterosexual couple that had an extremely unhappy ending because I don't like unhappy endings, would you be mocking be because omg I'm just so shallow and can't enjoy something realistic and non-fluff?

Seriously. I do not read deathfic 99% of the time because I'm usually not in the mood for deathfic and feeling like crap after doing something I should be enjoying more. The OP is probably just not wanting to spend two hours depressed just to get to an ending worth bawling her eyes out. It didn't look too interesting to me, either. Sorry.

115 OP

*rolls eyes* Yes, because not wanting to pay lord-knows-how-much-cash to see all that in a cinema means I'm totally shallow and know nothing about homophobia. There's enough homophobia in real life, in the news, and everywhere, okay? I just didn't feel like paying money to see it in a cinema. If there are people who want to do that, fine for them, but I mostly hate the way that slashers, at the time, made me feel like I should see it because OMG as a slasher you HAVE to see that movie and you HAVE to love it.

No, I don't. I don't have to see any epic romance that ends in misery and death if I don't want to. You can go watch Brokeback Mountain and assume that I'm some shallow squealing fangirl who doesn't know what goes on the world, and I'll go and watch Jeffrey.

Um, I didn't see Brokeback for the same reason as the OP (the angstfest, not the 'stache), and I'm queer. Also, I've read the short story it was based on, and I doubted the movie could do it justice.

I think you need to drop the nasty assumptions. There's a LOT of people who didn't see or didn't like the movie for perfectly legit reasons.
