Spiderman is the most popular comic book character among most people, regardless of race.

To be sure.

But presumably, the fanboys who would be particularly angry about a white character (Peter Parker) being replaced as Spiderman by an African-American/Puerto Rican character (Miles Morales) would be predominantly white.

Really? He's so predictable. He's one of my least favorite, honestly. Though he's more interesting when he's older, married, and stable. Otherwise, he's just written as a stereotypical nerd boy with superpowers a lot of the time.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I find the nerdy parts endearing.

I'm a non-socially awkward adult woman and I like the nerdy parts about Spiderman. It makes him feel more real and humble than an Olympian titan of a person with magical powers. Plus, while I'm not really an MCU fan, I think it does a good job of emphasizing how young he is, and how vulnerable he is. It's nice to see young male characters portrayed as vulnerable, in a way that makes you want to take care of them.
