That's true, I didn't think of that. Although that's part of a complicated and nasty ship war between het shippers so I think it's a slightly different scenario than, just as an example, OP declaring all non-canon slash ships AU. With het it's usually fandom-specific slapfights over who's interrogating the text from the proper perspective, whereas with slash it's more generalized smugness.
