I would be all over fic of him with that sweet young darling bottom right.

And I see nothing wrong with age disparity between consenting adults IRL.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-08 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I am SO writing that fic.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-08 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd say let's go write it now in the Games thread, but I know nothing about this show or these two. D:

And I see nothing wrong with age disparity between consenting adults IRL.

It totally depends on the ages. Usually as people get older a big age gap isn't a big deal until one person starts to reach that age where they start to slow down.

But like a 19 year old and a 29 year old isn't cool because they are in such different places in life. Where as a 29 year old and 39 year old would have a lot more in common and have life experience to be able to be equals in the relationship. Half your age plus 7 seems to be a good general rule of thumb for the very youngest person you should date.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-08 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-09 12:04 am (UTC)(link)

Okay, cradle robber. If you're over 25 and think this, you're mentally deficient.

inb4 "j-joke's on you, I'm actually 19 and married to a 30 year old!!!"

(Anonymous) 2018-05-09 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Not before "married to someone 15 years my senior when I was 23. Still happily married 33 years later", go get stuffed ya narrow minded eejit.

This person gets sensible life-planning decisions.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-09 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Their own, they are free to make. Saying that other choices aren't sensible is just preachy and immature.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-09 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
This. I'm 29 and the thought of dating anyone below 25-24 just weirds me out because you really are in vastly different places at that point. Also I'd feel pathetic to prey on youngins like that. I dunno how the older half of age gap relationships don't feel pathetic tbh.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-09 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Because they are not narrow minded and they respect that their partner is capable of making an informed choice. Easy really. You just need to be remotely mature.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-10 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Or you can just not be pathetic enough to prey on someone at a vastly different mental state than you. Easy enough. lol at you acting like going after people decades younger than you is the "mature" thing to do.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-09 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
Mmm, no. At the time, Martha was still in high school and she was 17.

(Anonymous) 2018-05-09 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
Ooooooh, 17, how scandalous!

(Anonymous) 2018-05-09 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
A) I love age gap romance
B) I think it's totally hot
C) I have my own age gap romance

I feel sorry for Hollywood getting so much flak over this relationship. I have had people legitimately come up to me and say "god, he's such a perve" knowing that my man is 25 years older than me. People of all ages can fall in love. They're not doing anything wrong. But yes OP - age gap kink for the win! And young or not, who'd kick Paul Hollywood out of bed?! Yes I too would love to read this fic x

(Anonymous) 2018-05-09 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
THANK YOU. Same here. Happy for you both.

/not a Paul Hollywood fancier myself though.

I don't know about that but it'd make my life if he approved of something I baked.

Yum?

(Anonymous) 2018-05-09 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
"I'd heat up the kitchen with her. She's quite cute."

That was my first thought, but looking at some of these comments, I guess she's a bit younger than I was thinking. I certainly don't mind an age gap (I'm 40, my girlfriend is 24), but still in high school is too young for me.

Though maybe in a couple years...

That series was a few years ago and the contestant is in her 20s now.

I love these comments about "places in life," as if we all went through the exact same stages at the exact same time or wanted the exact same things at the same time in all our lives. I think the pearl-clutching is so silly. Obviously individual context matters more, especially when talking IRL, but for fiction? (even RPF?) Just enjoy yourself! It's fiction and fantasy!
