And what are your favorite pairings, fandoms and tropes?

Depends on the age gap and fic type. Like, I enjoy age gaps but not ones that are so big that one partner will die long before the other. In those cases, I'd only read PWPs.

Depends on the time, the relationship, and the ages.

Like, if the older one knew the younger at any point where the younger was smaller than 13 and they were an adult, I'm out.

I'm more forgiving of age gaps with 16 year olds and stuff if it's a time where they'd be more likely to be considered adults. Also if they'd wait a few years anyway.

I wouldn't be into anything younger than 16, but admit the whole teacher/student thing does it for me. Especially male teacher/female student, and if the teacher is really conflicted about it but the student is the more dominant of the pair.

Any teacher/student is bulletproof and always more fun if there are some consent issues behind it. Especially if it involves a spanking that turns her on against her will, which of course only invites more punishment, and all of it is doled out in a very stern and matter-of-fact way, hot damn.

Yesyes. I like fantasy elements, where an ancient being learns about love and emotion from a human in their 20s or something idk. And they spend the human's life together. And I also love teacher/student in my smutfic, especially college teacher.

These days, mainly I’m into Phantom of the Opera for Christine/Erik, and Once Upon a Time for Belle/Rumpelstiltskin. As a teen I was already Christine/Erik, but also into Daine/Numair from the Tortall books, and briefly into Hermione/Snape. But that last one especially was mostly fandom Snape, and in most cases fandom Hermione too. There was a pair of books by Patricia Wrede about a magician and his ward in Regency England that ended with them paired up, but I’ve forgotten the title.

I like the older dude conflicted and self-loathing to the point where the woman has to make the first move because he can’t believe anyone, much less a bright young woman, would be into him. And since three out of four of the guys in these pairings are dickwads, at some point if the fic’s not PWP it’s nice if the woman mentions or fights with or otherwise brings up that it’s not her job to be his conscience.

Three of the four are teacher/student, and there’s tons of Professor Gold AUs in Rumbelle fandom, but it’s not really a kink of mine. Magicians and sorcerers are, and if you count stage magic, that’s pretty much all the guys in the pairings I’m into. Other than that, uh, bonding over shared interests, Beauty and the Beast plotlines, and “hey I’ve never given a blowjob, tell me if I’m doing this right.” —

I don't mind it if it's part of an interesting dynamic and neither character is too young.

I quite like Daryl and Carol on TWD, and Jaime and Brienne.

Assuming they *feel* like consenting adults, and the younger party doesn't come across as a naive high-schooler who's only technically legal, then sure. I enjoy the, I dunno, the mentorship? So... the non-kinky version.

This is just my personal tastes, not a judgement of anybody else's.

I like some stuff where one character is immortal or really long-lived, and another is a regular person.

I'm not into age gap stuff. My parents are over 20 years apart.

People always think the 20-something girl with the 40-something guy is hot, but a few decades into the future, she's just a middle-aged woman married to a grumpy, lecturing old man.
