Whedon wasn't the only writer on the show though. There were other writers responsible for making the show good IIRC.

Yes, but Joss has always been super involved with his projects and kept close to his writers and their scripts. So often when the show was on air a fan would tell one of the other writers they loved a line in their episode and the writer would have to admit that Joss wrote it. Plus if any of the writers tried to switch dialogue tags on a scene to give Willow, Xander, or Giles a line that was originally meant for someone else, Joss would always catch them.

I think other writers wrote some great episodes, and watching some of their careers blossom has been a real joy but Whedon's projects are very much his, for good or ill.

Yeah, I have heard several accounts about scenes from Buffy that I loved and credited to the episide’s writers, only to find out that their original plans for said scenes were pretty underwhelming and the final versions were ghostwritten by Whedon.
