F!S has taught me that people actually play with the default sims. I never realized that, I thought we all made fandom character sims and made them fuck.

Exactly. I love my Mulder and Scully sims, my Dean and Castiel sims, my Doctor and Jack sims....

For this reason, i do *not* play Sims; i get way too fucking invested and upset if they're not happy. So i just don't.

I hear you, OP.

I keep trying to do drama-filled storylines, or even just create a truly mean/evil sim. But even when I try, I end up "fixing" everything because.. I don't know. Being mean to a sim (even if it's through another sim) feels like kicking a dog or something.

So I do a lot of rags-to-riches and modified 100 baby (starring my OTPs rather than a baby mama and random baby daddies) challenges. :p

I still play TS2, and I get attached too EXCEPT in the cases where I decide ahead of time that so-and-so is going to be a fail!parent, and then I do everything I can to make the kid miserable and zero out that relationship. Bonus points if the mom is a romance Sim and has 6 kids all by different daddies.

Can't do it with pets, though. My abuse only extends to children! Pets must be loved!

I get invested with my Sims too. I want everything in their lives to be perfect. I was supposed to have a sim be evil/mean, but I couldn't go through with it!

I am the exact opposite, OP. I make family after family, and I keep telling myself, "This time they're going to be normal. So fucking normal and happy and all American and it'll be great and normal." And then I see the opportunity for drama, and suddenly Junior cannot find out that his dad has been screwing his wife, especially since his daughter is actually is half-sister.

When I was younger and playing the Sims 1 I used to love killing them, but nowadays I'm just like you, OP.
