Ever been to a live concert?

What were the best? The worst?

My favorite was the Mumford and Sons festival I went to. Sure, the heat almost killed those British fuckers but they gave it their all.

The worst was Nine Inch Nails.

Why was Nine Inch Nails yhe worst?

Best concerts I went to were Crowded House and Muse. Crowded House was an absolute blast and the crowd was so engaged and energized, and Muse's music fit in so perfectly at a place like Red Rocks. Coldplay were fun, too.

Can't think of any concerts right offhand that I've seen that I'd say were bad.

Lots in my lates teens and twenties.

The best was Aerosmith on the 'Get a Grip' tour, which surprised me because I'd just gone along with a friend for the hell of it and wasn't expecting to be wowed. They played a good mix of old and new, and their energy was something to behold.

My first concert was NKOTB, and I don't have fond memories of it. I wasn't really into them, and the performances weren't great. Also, I went with a bunch of girls I barely knew, and they weren't very nice.

Mixed result but I saw The Cure in concert and while they were amazing, the venue had terrible acoustics and it was full of stupid drunk dudes. Actually come to think of it most concerts I've been to where beer is sold had a problem with obnoxious drunk people.

David Bowie (twice) -- Both Thin White Duke and the Heroes tours were amazing.

Phillip Glass -- saw him at Northwestern University, in a place with incredible acoustics. It was as if we were listening to planets moving in their orbits. (When we came out of the concert, there a thick ground fog; the streetlamps had pink halos.)

Kodo - Saw them at Orchestra Hall. The music was't loud so much as visceral: I could literally feel the taiko drum beats in my sternum.

Stomp Out Loud - I think we saw this at a smallish venue in Milwaukee in the 90s, and it was just sheer delight. (As you can guess I am a sucker for percussion.)

Yoshida Brothers: They played at lunchtime at a small coffee shop (San Francisco or Washington, I can't recall) in 2004. I had no idea who they were, but bought one of every CD they had on the spot (they even autographed one!) They sounded every bit as fantastic in that small space as they did on the CD (presumably a studio recording). "Hayate" and "Kodo (Inside the Sun Remix)" still get heavy play.

Mostly classical music, not rock bands.

The most memorable concert was the one conducted by Jerry Goldsmith, and the worst was this modern experimental symphony that almost made my ears bleed with the high and loud noises.

I've been to a few concerts. My Chemical Romance was the best. So much energy, Gerard sounded better live than he did on the CD, and Frank jumped in the pit and I helped catch him. I was buzzing with energy long after the show ended. I've seen Green Day a few times and they always put on a really solid performance. The worst one I've seen was Fall Out Boy, but I think that was more the venue than the band because Patrick's voice is way better live than on the album, but the acoustics were terrible and my ears really hurt after the show. Plus, there wasn't a whole lot of banter between the band and the audience and I'm the sort of person who really loves banter.

I've only been to one concert, and it was a little emo band in a little club in my little Scottish town, but I had a great time dancing in the crowd. I think there's something really nice about seeing your favourite musicians up close?

However, I've been to a kpop fanmeet which is sort of like a concert with a few songs and more interacting with fans and that was terrible. The group was lovely (Got7, very nice guys) but the fans were the absolute WORST, all screaming and trying to grab the members. A little scary, honestly. But I think a lot of them were young, like high schoolers, and didn't realise they were being morons.

Hundreds. Mostly artists no one here has ever heard of. Most of them were when I worked in radio in my 20's and I'm 40 now so I don't remember most of them.

Lindsey Sterling did really know how to put on a show, that was recent enough that I remember.

Oh yeah. Best? Hrmmmmm.....Hard to say. Alice Cooper kicked ass *both* times. Ronnie James Dio was awesome. The Who was a blast because my brother and a bunch of friends were there, and Pink Floyd was...well...Pink Floyd. :D

All awesome for different reasons.

The worst was Metallica. Assholes.

Tori Amos touring for Little Earthquakes just before she made the jump to larger venues.

So many.

Bayside were great live, and there was a good local festival I loved before they changed the location one year and the planning went downhill. I think the worst was Guns N' Roses because of lateness and attitude. I went to a lot of violent stuff when I was a teenager too, so I've been stomped on and had ribs broken and gotten black eyes. I once got the train home in my bra because my shirt was ripped off and lost.

lots of them. everybody from the gentleman in my icon to classical to local bands that are great (if not famous) to many, many tribute bands. Almost all of them were awesome as hell, the only really bad one was a Bowie tribute that was so badly done I walked out.

Only four. VAMPS twice, ONE OK ROCK once, and Sarah Brightman once.

I guess the first VAMPS one was the 'worst', but because outside of SB it was the largest crowd and I got jostled a bit cause it was all floor and no seats.

Second VAMPS or OOR was probably best because they were super small venues and it was amazing just being so close.

I've only ever been to one, for Exile. Who were willing to keep taking encores until 2AM--the longest time they were allowed to play til at a local festival. It was the best experience I ever had--and a FREE concert at that.

T.M. Revolution was fucking great. He was really into getting the audience to participate in songs they knew, which made it super fun. You could tell he loved his fans and his biggest priority was making sure that his fans had fun.

Several.

In fact, I went to a Utopia concert recently since they are on a reunion tour. It's not quite the four man set I had wished for (3 of 4) but the new guy is doing a damn good job and IMO they rocked the fuck out of this show. Don't know if it's the best I've seen but I'm so glad I went. My only fear is this possibly being the last time I see them, in something resembling this format... I hope that isn't the case.

So many that it's hard to choose.

Ghost at Tuska Open Air, Helsinki: a religious experience in the heavy summer night rain and everyone joined in on Monstrance Clock.

Powerwolf at Sticky Fingers, Göteborg: high energy and sing-alongs. Attila and Falk Maria are definitely showmen.

Sabaton at Wacken Open Air, Germany: the entire festival area was packed. There were more people there for Sabaton than for headlining Judas Priest. Superhigh energy and massive crowd participation.

Worst: Rob Zombie at Wacken Open Air: didn't live up to my expectations, sound was crap, etc. Maybe that some of it could be explained by half of their stuff getting lost in transit to WOA.

My school booked The Decemberists for Spring Fling one year. That was great because a) they were my favorite band at the time, b) all my friends were there, obviously, and c) the school green was the perfect concert arena and the weather in Connecticut is perf in early May.

Yes, several hundred over the past 26 years. I've seen many bands multiple times, and it's all depending on day/current form. Sometimes they have good days (and great audience) and the concert turns out awesome, sometimes they have bad days or the spark just doesn't ignite and the concerts were bad.

Nightwish, though, were really bad all the three times I've seen them. I think they just don't do well live, while their studio albums are really good.

My favorite was Coldplay, they definitely know how to throw a concert,

My least favorite was this Peter Frampton concert my dad forced me to go to when I was 14, it was boring because I knew none of the music and there was a bunch of people my dad's age there and I disliked my dad exceedingly at that age, so it was like being caged in

I've been to a lot, from small hole in the wall clubs to large, arena venues. I can't say I've been to any bad concerts. Best was probably when I was still in high school and I saw Smashing Pumpkins not long after Siamese Dream came out. Or when I saw Morrissey live about a few years later.

Many! Foo Fighters were incredible, Dave Grohl played until they made him leave. Absolutely incredible energy from the whole band
