Boyle said he was worried things were going to change between him and Jake when Jake gets married and Jake said "Well, of course things are going to change. Didn't you make me less of a priority when you got with Genevieve?" and Boyle paused and gave a very fake "yes".

I felt so bad for Boyle in this episode I couldn't laugh at most of the jokes. Like, yeah, he tried too hard and made things way more elaborate than they should have been, but honestly, he's never really given Jake reason to doubt him before? Obviously he had something planned at the end of it? So them going off and partying without him just came across to me as super cold.

Same here. I was actually shocked Jake didn't value his friendship with Boyle nearly as much as the show always seemed to portray, even if Boyle was verging on being flanderized at the perpetually weirdly inappropriate guy. (which, thank god, they've been slowly backing off of this season)

Yeah, it was super cold. Especially since Boyle planned Rosa's bachelorette party and she loved it. So he's got a track record of great, thoughtful parties :|

i honestly think this line of thinking is so fucked up and entitled. of course someone is going to prioritize their relationship with their SIGNIFICANT OTHER over their friend. it doesnt mean the friendship is thus devalued. like if the point of this exchange is that it reveals that boyle cares more about his friend than his wife, that communicates to me that there's a problem w/ his relationship with her.

i also really hate that it perpetuates this idea that the platonic bond between two straight men is more valuable than the bond between the men and the WOMEN THEY MARRIED. WTF

Agreed. Also, not just the woman he married but the woman he married and adopted a CHILD with. It's not a sad thing to acknowledge that you prioritise your family over your best friend. They can both still be very important relationships in your life.
