Re: I know there are a couple of Disney World fans here...

Walt Disney World has a bunch of their own hotels in a huge variety of styles and prices. We always stayed on Disney property because they have their own included transportation to the parks (Walt Disney World, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom). The transports run frequently if not constantly. But the best part was the staff who help you figure it all out. Every hotel they have has a whole team of people dedicated to helping you plan your visit. You can walk up to reception at anytime of the day or night and they will figure out where you need to be and when so you can be where you want to go when you want to go there.

Staying off Disney property wasn't as much fun the one time we did it. And no cheaper after we paid for a parking pass. And we had to walk up to two miles from our car to the park gate.

We haven't been to WDW in about 5 years so I don't know how much has changed but Disney staff have always been amazing and WDW has a long history of the very best hospitality. My fave hotels were Fort Wilderness Cabins, Beach Club Villas, and the Dolphin/Swan hotels. Epcot is my fave park, so I liked the ones that had their own entrance into the World Showcase.

SA
https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/en_GB/resorts/ Here's the link to the hotels that make up the greater WDW Resort area. You can sort by prices, theme, or proximity to parks. Animal Kingdom is a bit further away from the others IIRC. We always did just one day there, one or two days at HS, and the rest of the time bouncing back and forth between WDW and Epcot.

Oh, and I did one day at one of the water parks one time. It was fun but I lost a whole day to it what with transportation and lines, so didn't spend any time in any of the main parks that day.

Yeah, seems like being on property will be better considering I really don't care about going anywhere else in Florida. Thanks for giving me your favorite resorts. I will have a 6-7yo so not sure how much he would enjoy Epcot.
