Parking Tickets

Has anyone else contested a parking ticket before?

So I was down at the courthouse today, and I had to park on the street. And I parked in a space with a sign that said public parking. I paid the meter. I get back from court to find a lady about to tow my car. She claims I'm "obstructing traffic" and parked too far from the curb even though I was within the lines of the parking spot. I wanted to take a photo, but she said if I didn't take my car now, they would tow it. I should have spoken up for myself, but I was honestly flustered and nervous. So I left.

I really want to contest this because this is bullshit. But I'm not sure if contesting this sort of thing is something people do, and I'm not sure if it is even worth it when the only evidence I have is my word.

Honestly, if you show up, most parking tickets are dismissed because the cop never shows up.

My best friend has contested more than once. I'm pretty sure her fine at least got lightened every time. Your odds are good just for being willing to show up!
