... if that's all you've eaten all day, that's nowhere near enough food, anon. You aren't losing weight because you're literally starving yourself and so your body is holding on to every calorie it gets.

While you are correct that what OP I'd eating isn't enough food, there is no such thing as "starvation mode". Think about it, if it were true, no one would die of starvation.

I don't know what else to call it. "Starvation mode" doesn't mean your body thinks it's going to die ASAP. It's from back when humans might go for a while without a good, big meal, so metabolism slows down in order to help you last longer just in case it's REAL starvation.

And it sucks. I have to stay between 2500 and 3500 calories a day currently, otherwise I gain weight. That's going above or below. Above, obvious. Below? The body can't tell if it's a real emergency or not, but it battens down the hatches, anyway.

If you can think of a better term, I'm sure there are many people who would welcome it.

Well, no. You misunderstand "starvation mode". It's not suspended animation where you avoid starvation forever. It's your body's attempt to SLOW DOWN the process. Slow down, not stop.

AYRT

That was all I had eaten "so far" today. I hadn't yet had dinner. I usually get about between 1200 and 1500 calories a day. Which should be adequate to avoid starvation mode I would think.
