why the fuck anyone in America should be giving half a shit about the British royal wedding?

I keep seeing it on the news and I genuinely don't understand what is so goddamn interesting about it. Is it a Britaboos-gone-overboard thing? Is it a Disney princess thing? I really don't get it. Who the fuck outside of England cares about some guy's wedding?

I think people mostly like it because it's pretty and princess-y and stuff

I’m American and like a lot of Disney Princess stuff and don’t give a crap about the wedding. Or the first guy’s kids, either. But I have to process a lot of magazines for my job so I see a lot of magazine covers plastered with their faces. I’ll be glad when the furor dies down a bit.

Why does anyone outside the US give a fuck about the Kardashians? Actually, why does anyone give a fuck about them?
People like gossip. People like celebrity gossip. And if it's royal celebrity gossip with lots of pomp and circumstance, you bet your ass people will be interested in it, no matter the country.

Same reason anyone cares, which is fantasizing about being rich and almost effortlessly considered relevant. Or because it's gossip and there's pretty stuff involved I guess.

Eh, the bride is American, the USA is a former colony, the whole fairytale marry a prince thing, the princess thing, the general fascination with celebrity and famous people, the promise of spectacle, the dress, I can see why it's a thing.

People in America have cared about all the royal weddings that have been televised here. It's a spectacle like the Olympics or the Oscars. Personally, I think it's kind of interesting, but not interesting enough to wake up early and watch it live. I'll watch the recaps later.
