It seems excessive, sure, but I'm not sure it's that different to buying the ones sold as merchandise for the series.

Apparently various kids around the US have been suspended from school for being caught with Death Note notebooks they'd written names of other students in - in some cases, students who were bullying them. I think that's a bloody silly overreaction as well.

No one's going to die because someone writes their name in a notebook, designed to look like a Death Note or not. Get a fucking grip, dudes.

What if I make a "Discomfort Note?" The people I write down will just be in extreme discomfort... not dead. XD

There's no different between fantasy and reality. There are only bottomless pits that connect this "universe" with other universes (including 'verses that most would call "fantasy.")

So if I go to Death Note universe and write down the name of someone in this universe, will they die or not?

Only if the person who's name your wrote down is also in the Death Note Universe.

You could always kidnap that person and take them to the Death Note universe. Or, you might luck out and there may be a copy of that person already there in that alternate reality.

Of course, if the later is the case... when you come back to this 'verse... that fucker will still be here.
